John Harshman Huddleston, 81, Frankfort, IN, passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at Parkwood Health Care Center in Lebanon.
John is survived by his wife of 58 1/2 years, Betty (Witsman) Huddleston; their five children, Marsha Huddleston, Lynnette Duhamell (Larry), Christy Eitnier, John Scott Huddleston (Judy), Dean Andrew Huddleston (Pam); seven grandchildren, Adrien and Victoria Duhamell, Ian Eitnier, Lauren and Jon Huddleston, Morgan and Kenzie Huddleston; and two great-granddaughters, Camma Duhamell and Alyssa Eitnier.
A lifelong resident of Clinton County, John was born on April 9, 1926. He is the son of Mae Harshman and Otis Huddleston, who preceded him in death.
He graduated from Colfax High School in 1944. A World War II veteran, John joined the Navy, November 1944 served as a radioman, third class aboard LSTs in the Pacific campaign. He worked for Swift & Company (Staleys now Lyle & Tate) for 35 years. Upon retirement he worked as a handyman at a local campground and in farming until his second retirement. He then played golf, traveled, and enjoyed his family and friends.
John was a member of the Frankfort Moose Lodge #7 for 45 years, the Frankfort American Legion Post #12 and the First Christian Church of Colfax.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Mooseheart children`s charity by mailing to Moose Charities, 155 International Drive Mooseheart, Ill., 60539-1100.
Services will be graveside at Green Lawn Memorial Park, State Road 39 south of Frankfort, at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007.
