Richard E. “Red” Barber
Richard E. “Red” Barber, 75, a resident of Frankfort, Indiana died on Tuesday July 8th, 2008 at his home in Frankfort. He was born on February 23, 1933 in Muncie, IN to parents Noel Virgil & Jessie Olive (Harness) Barber.

Red graduated from Muncie Central High School; was a foster parent for many years; veteran of the Navy, Fireman & diver, July ’52-May ’55. He moved to Clinton County in 1972 and worked at Crysler in Kokomo for 30 yrs. as a tool & die maker. He retired in 1993. Red loved to travel, camp and fish, black powder shooting, and showing his 1924 Dodge Bros. antique car, but above all else - family was his true joy. He was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church.

He married C. “Carol” Spradlin on September 1, 1962 in Muncie, IN, and she survives him.

Survivors include his wife, Carol of Frankfort; Seven sons, James Amonett of Cambria, IN, Kenneth Amonett of Sheridan, IN, Rick (companion Ethan) Barber of Frankfort, Randy (wife Kris) Barber of Logansport, Russell (wife Cortney) Barber of Frankfort, Rodney (wife Kelli) Barber of Frankfort, and Ronnie Barber of Frankfort; Three daughters, Teri (husband Jeff) Boyer of Houston, TX, Susan (husband Butch) Welch of Muncie, IN, Tina (husband Jerry) Tague of Rossville, IN; One brother, Virgil “Pete” (wife Faye) Barber of Long Lake, WI; nineteen Grandchildren and eleven Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter.

Calling hours will be from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M., Thursday July 10th, 2008 at the Genda Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Friday July 11th, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at the Genda Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Hopewell Cemetery.

Memorials to: Hopewell United Methodist Church or Rossville Volunteer Ambulance.
